TLDR

On your CHEFTOP and BAKERTOP MIND.Maps™ unit, a "Gas Power board damaged" issue, leading to gas ovens not heating, indicates a critical fault in the gas power supply or the Brahma flame control board. Diagnosis involves measuring voltage across specific points on the gas power board and the Brahma board. Depending on voltage readings, either the gas power board or the Brahma flame control board requires replacement to restore heating function.

Technical Details

Repair Steps:

  1. Safely disconnect power to the UNOX CHEFTOP/BAKERTOP MIND.Maps™ unit before proceeding with any diagnostic or repair work.
  2. Locate the Gas Power board. Carefully measure the voltage across the P22 socket between the two pins labeled ‘NGAS’ and ‘FGAS’ using a multimeter set to VAC (Volts AC).
  3. If no power (220-240 V AC) is detected at the P22 socket, the Gas Power board is likely faulty and requires replacement.
  4. If power (220-240 V AC) is detected at the P22 socket, proceed to the Brahma flame control board. Measure the voltage between PIN 8 and PIN 10 of the J5 socket on this board, with the multimeter set to VAC.
  5. If there is no power supply detected at the J5 socket of the Brahma board, then the Brahma flame control board is faulty and needs replacement.
  6. If power is present at the J5 socket but the oven still doesn’t heat, replace the Gas Power board as it may have an internal fault despite initial voltage presence.
  7. After replacing any component, restore power to the unit and test the oven’s heating function.

Common Questions:

Q: What causes the gas power board to fail?

A: Component wear, power surges, or internal short circuits can lead to the failure of the gas power board, preventing gas flow and ignition in your UNOX unit.

Q: How do I identify the Brahma flame control board?

A: The Brahma flame control board is typically a distinct module responsible for ignition, flame sensing, and gas valve control, often labeled with “Brahma” and featuring multiple wiring connections within the oven’s control panel.

Q: Is it safe to operate the oven if only one board is suspected faulty?

A: No, it is unsafe to operate a gas oven with suspected faults in the gas power or flame control systems. Always repair or replace faulty components immediately to ensure safe operation and prevent gas leaks or ignition failures.
