TLDR

On your CHEFTOP and BAKERTOP MIND.Maps™ unit, if the oven fails to heat, it typically points to issues with the heating elements or their control contactors. You'll need to measure the oven's current consumption and check the power supply to the contactor coils. Faulty components must be replaced to restore heating function.

Technical Details

Repair Steps:

  1. Use a clamp meter to measure the total amp consumption of the oven directly at the main terminal block.
  2. Compare the measured phase consumption with the technical data found on UNOX Infonet. If there’s a discrepancy, proceed to check the contactors.
  3. If the contactors are not closing the circuit, use a multimeter set to V AC to check for 230 V AC between the A1 and A2 pins of the contactor coil. This verifies if the power board is supplying voltage.
  4. If the power board fails to supply 230 V AC to the contactor coils, replace the power board. Otherwise, if voltage is present but contactors don’t close, replace the faulty contactors.
  5. Measure the amp consumption of each individual heating element turn. If any element shows 0 A consumption, replace that specific heating element.

Common Questions:

Q: Why isn’t my UNOX oven heating up?

A: On UNOX CHEFTOP and BAKERTOP MIND.Maps™ units, the primary reasons for a lack of heating are typically a failure in one or more heating elements or issues with the electrical contactors that supply power to them.

Q: How do I identify a faulty heating element?

A: To pinpoint a faulty heating element, measure the current draw of each element turn individually with a clamp meter. An element drawing 0 Amps, despite being called for, indicates a failure and requires replacement.

Q: What role do contactors play in my oven’s heating system?

A: Contactors are high-current relays that act as switches, controlled by the oven’s power board. They are responsible for supplying and cutting off power to the heating elements, ensuring the oven reaches and maintains the desired cooking temperature.
